Hi. I’ve read about this problem before but haven’t found a solution to it yet. My upscaling DVD player (Samsung DVD-H1080) is connected to my Samsung PS42B450 Samsung HDTV via HDMI. Then there are audio-out cables from my DVD player going into my non-HDMI audio 5.1 receiver. The player is DTS-capable. The problem is, whenever I select English DTS from a movie’s options, there is no sound output and a message pops up on the TV saying ‘HDMI Audio not Supported’. My question is, why is the TV trying to output the DTS instead of the player sending out the signal to the receiver? The player carries the DTS logo, and if anything my receiver is DTS-capable, too. There’s no real reason for the TV trying to output the DTS. I’ve also tried changing the speaker output to ‘External’ on the TV but nothing seems to work. The big question is, when I decide to get myself a new 5.1 set in the next couple of months, and I’ll definitely be getting one with DTS output, will I still get this message and have problems playing DTS audio?
